The Government has today released the reports of the independent review of recognition for the Battle of Long Tan and service recognition for RAAF Ubon.
The Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Alan Griffin, the Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Support, Dr Mike Kelly, and I will carefully consider the reports of the independent panel before settling the Government’s response in consultation with the Prime Minister.
The independent review panel approached its task in a rigorous fashion and has detailed the basis for its findings and recommendations. On behalf of the Government I again express my thanks for the work of the panel members, Major General Peter Abigail AO (Retd), Major General Steve Gower AO AO (Mil) (Retd), and Brigadier Gerry Warner AM LVO (Retd).
