GG 56/11
27 October 2011
The Special Minister of State today congratulated the Australian Customs and Border Protection agency and the Community and Public Sector Union for reaching in-principle agreement for a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
“In particular, I want to congratulate the parties for reaching an in-principle agreement that complies with the government’s bargaining framework, including the recommended average annual wage increase of 3 per cent per annum,” Mr Gray said.
“Enterprise bargaining is at the heart of Labor’s Fair Work system and bargaining in the Australian Public Service (APS) occurs at the agency level.
“Some 87 agencies have formally commenced bargaining and 56 agreements have been finalised. Customs will be submitting the proposed enterprise agreement for formal approval shortly.
“I applaud Customs and the CPSU for approaching the matter maturely and reaching agreement on pay and conditions with their staff in accordance with the Fair Work Act and Government policy.”
